Going gardening

Alex Monroe's new collection The Gardener is finally available online from his shophere (as you probably know if you follow the Alex Monroe blog).

I missed the preview at Penhaligon's after having written about it because of christening and wedding season so I am seeing some of the designs for the first time.

The citrine, the watering can and the twig are top of the wish list- but really I want it all. As always.

Why is your gardening so much more glamorous than my gardening? Alex Monroe's work is so beautiful!

There is an award for you over at mine. xx MM

The last one is beautiful. I have been enjoying wearing my pea pod from Alex, so delicate and kind of whimsical...

Oooh that citrine is mouth-wateringly wonderful, and I love the quirky watering can and the ring, too! I am always plumping for unusual, well made and exquisitely detailed jewelery over mass-produced or blah offerings, too. :) It's something of an obsession.

When I was younger, I used to desperately wish to marry a man who happened to be a jewelery designer as it would save me so much money in the long run. My fiance couldn't design jewelery for toffee, but I suppose he'll do all the same. ;)

I never fully appreciated citrine until my mother got a HUGE citrine cocktail ring from my stepfather. Utterly drop-dead fabulous and it has literally stopped people in the street who ask her where she got it. Now I hanker after a piece of my own.

Hi Top Bird- I know!

MM- Ha ha- because my gardening is actually shopping where as yours is the proper thing- I am a cheat!

Hi Daily- yes I am very fond of citrine too- I really like lots of the precious stones that aren't as widely used, they are more interesting.

Hi Marie- oh I forgot you the pod. It's very lovely and I imagine people ask you about it a lot.

Hi Btp- Citrines are beautiful aren't they and such a statement. I still do dream of marrying a jewellery!

I love that ring too - but sadly, it doesn't come in my size.

Or perhaps that is a blessing, as I really can't afford it...;-)

Hi LLG- isn't it. Very special and wearable. Rx

Hi Tania- Oh that is sad. I think Alex will custom make things- but as you say perhaps it's a blessing in a way!
